Questions people ask
- What is Hey Blop?
- A sleep tracker and smart alarm for Android. You start your night with one tap, the phone listens to how it goes, the alarm wakes you in light sleep rather than out of deep sleep, and every night grows a lotus along a path — so keeping a regular sleep routine becomes something you want to do rather than something you should.
- How does the smart alarm work?
- You choose a wake-up time and a window of 15, 30 or 45 minutes before it. Inside that window Blop listens for a light phase of sleep and wakes you there, gently, with a sunrise on the screen. If no light phase comes, the alarm rings at the time you chose — never later.
- Why wake up in light sleep?
- Being pulled out of deep sleep is what leaves you heavy and foggy for half the morning — what sleep researchers call sleep inertia. Waking during a light phase means surfacing more easily: fewer hard mornings, and a better chance of beating that tiredness before it sets in.
- How does Hey Blop analyse my sleep?
- With your phone's microphone, if you switch it on — no watch or wristband needed. The sound is reduced on the phone to a few numbers and is never recorded or sent anywhere. In the morning the sleep analysis shows your night: awake, light sleep and calm, how long you took to fall asleep, the time you spent awake, snoring and coughing. Hey Blop is not a medical device and does not diagnose anything.
- Can it help me build a sleep routine?
- That is what it is for. Every night you record grows a lotus on your path, streaks and regularity show at a glance, and the stats follow your trends over weeks and months, with tips drawn from your own habits. Going to bed and getting up at regular times is one of the simplest ways to feel less tired.
- How much does Hey Blop cost?
- Ten days free with no card needed, then €9.99 a year — less than €1 a month. There is no monthly plan. The alarm, the pond and your profile never lock, subscription or not.
- When is it on Google Play?
- It is in testing on Android now. There is no date yet, and rather than guess at one: email us and you will be told when it lands.
- Is there an iPhone version?
- Yes, soon. Android comes first, and the iPhone version follows — it is built from the same app, so it will have everything the Android one has.
- My alarm did not go off.
- Almost always one of three settings on the phone rather than the app: permission for full-screen notifications, Do Not Disturb access, and — on Samsung — Edge lighting, which quietly replaces the alarm screen with a glow at the edge of the display. The app's Alarm screen has a row for each that takes you straight to the right settings page.
- Can I subscribe or cancel on this website?
- No, and that is not an oversight. The subscription is bought through Google Play, so Play holds it and is the only place it can be changed or cancelled — your Play subscriptions page. Hey Blop itself shows you where you stand, on the profile screen — in your free days, subscribed, or neither.
- How do I delete my account?
- From your profile in the app. If you cannot reach it — a lost phone, say — ask us here on this site. Both delete everything immediately and neither can be undone. If you are subscribed, cancel that in Google Play first — deleting the account does not stop a subscription Play is holding.
- Does the app listen to me?
- Only while you have told it you are asleep, and the audio never leaves your phone. What is stored is a loudness curve — how loud the room was, and whether snoring was detected. Never a recording. The privacy policy says it in full.
